Volunteers

At the Little Sisters of the Poor, our volunteers are an invaluable resource to our staff and Residents. More than 100 volunteers come on a daily, weekly or monthly basis to our Home to assist the Residents and staff. Their sole purpose is to dedicate part of their time and energy to the elderly poor.

The volunteers take our Residents to physical therapy, assist them on shopping trips, volunteer in the kitchen, organize our rummage and craft/ceramics sales, and help in the administrative offices.

"We used to come two days a week," said Kitty and Dan Hilinski, "and now we come five days a week." They love the people with whom they volunteer and also the caring atmosphere of the Home.

"Our volunteers are truly angels," said Anne Brennen, Resident and volunteer. "We are always looking for some wonderful people to volunteer at our Home," adds Anne.

There are many volunteer opportunities available at the Little Sisters of the Poor.  The following is a list of our current greatest needs:

  Medical Transportation -

Volunteers are needed to help escort and transport Residents to their medical appointments.  Volunteers may use the Home's cars.  On call basis during the day.

     
  Volunteer -

Needed in the late afternoons around 5:00 p.m. to show an occasional movie and take a book cart around the floors.
