Bishop Zubik to Celebrate Mass and Bless Newly Renovated Little Sisters of the Poor Home

The Most Reverend David A. Zubik will bless the newly renovated Little Sisters of the Poor Home at 1028 Benton Avenue on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. Mass will be celebrated immediately following the blessing. A reception and tours of the building will also follow Mass. 

Some of the renovations to the original James P. Wall building include: two courtyards at the rear of the building, a wrap-around porch has been added to the exterior of the new auditorium, “Main Street” for the Residents to enjoy which includes a Lounge/Game Room, Country Store, Gift Shop, Library, Meet ‘n Treat gathering area, Mortuary Chapel, Dining Area, and a multi-functional Auditorium with stage.

The Second floor includes Administrative suites, Medical suite which includes a podiatry office, dental office, medical office and a physical therapy suite. Also located on this floor is the Residents computer room and a beauty and barber shop. The third floor is home to the Little Sisters convent.

The Sisters are pleased to report that to-date, $14 million in gifts and pledged commitments have been raised. The Little Sisters are so grateful for the outpouring of support they have received. They are keenly aware of the continued assistance needed from those who are financially blessed. The Little Sisters are confident that many who have journeyed with us thus far will continue toward reaching an $18 million goal.
